Raingarden Program
New this year!
FRNNG is partnering with local nonprofit Metro Blooms to offer a discount raingarden program for Field, Regina and Northrop residents.
How it works:
We have 10 garden slots for 2024 so apply below by Wed., May 1 at 11:59 p.m. We’ll award slots through a lottery later this spring.
If approved for a garden, you’ll have a site visit with Metro Blooms to create your garden plan and have the outline of your garden prepped for planting by their crews this summer.
Next you pick up your plants, get them planted (you’ll get all the instructions on placement), and maintain your new garden, including watering, fencing from bunnies and weeding. Should you move, please help the new residents learn how to maintain the garden so it can thrive.
Fees:
Seven cost-share gardens will go to residents can expect to pay $500-$600 for their garden (about a $2000 value!).
We will also offer three community-funded gardens for qualifying residents who will pay a $50 consultation fee with NO other costs. Please complete the program application linked below and look for the household income question.

Benefits of Raingardens
A rain garden stores and absorbs rainwater, which is taken up by the long roots of native plants or soaks deep into the earth. These actions help to break down pollutants, cleaning the water. Since they are typically planted with native plantings, rain gardens provide habitat for pollinators and other wildlife.
