Winter Seeding Along Minnehaha Creek
Help FRNNG spread native seed mixes across the 3 acres Minnehaha Creek woods where we cleared buckthorn over the past two summers. In case of inclement weather, our back-up date is Jan. 19 at 9 a.m.
Sowing in the winter provides the cold needed for the seeds of many species to germinate. The seeds were graciously provided by the Minneapolis Parks and Recreation Board and these mixes were selected to quickly establish a plant community to compete with the invasive species we are managing.
No equipment needed, however, if you have a hand-held fertilizer/seed spreader, please bring that. Meet at the bridge across Minnehaha Creek at 14th Ave S and dress warmly!
All volunteers need to sign a Minneapolis Parks' waiver - click here to fill it out!
